Yoga for Seniors

Course Description & Information:

  • This course provides exercises designed to improve core strength, flexibility, balance, and posture.

Course Objectives :

  • List asanas specific for building core strength and functional for seniors with appropriate modifications.
  • List asanas that are good for strengthening the muscles of the upper back and improving posture for those individuals with either osteopenia or osteoporosis.
  • Learn strengthening and balance training exercises for fall prevention.
  • List asanas that improve overall health and well being while strengthening the muscles of the pelvic floor to help prevent urinary incontinence.

Contact Hours: 6

Target Audience: Physical therapy professionals (PT, PTA) and Occupational therapy professionals (OT, OTA).

Certificate Requirements:

  • Completion of course post-test (70%) and course evaluation.
