Course Description & Information:
- This course will discuss why runners need to strength train. It will discuss multiple factors that support the need for strength training to prevent injury, improve performance and keep the runner on the road for a lifetime. This course will discuss and present time efficient examples to fit strength training into a busy schedule. It will discuss exercise selection and order and will provide a template to design programs to build strength without bulk for the running enthusiast. Intermediate level.

Course Objectives:
- Discuss why the need to strength train.
- Identify factors contributing to the need for strength training in runners.
- Discuss the role aging plays in strength loss.
- Identify and discuss building strength without bulk.
- Define plyometrics and their use.
- Discuss exercise order and selection in strength training for runners.
- Discuss how to design time efficient workouts for endurance athletes.
Learning Outcome: At least 80% of class participants will score 70% or greater on course post-test.
