Course Description & Information:
- Vitamin D is a unique vitamin in that it is not only a vitamin but a hormone. This seminar covers the current research on the role of vitamin D in bone health, cardiovascular disease, cancer and other diseases.

Course Objectives:
- Explain the basic physiology of vitamin D metabolism in the human body.
- Identify the role of vitamin D in cardiovascular disease, bone metabolism, insulin resistance and cancer.
- Explain the role of vitamin D human immunity.
- List dietary strategies to increase vitamin D status.
- List guidelines for dietary vitamin D based on daily or weekly requirements determined to meet the metabolic demands of current health status.
Learning Outcome: At least 80% of class participants will score 70% or greater on course post-test.
