COVID-19 Vaccination Boosters

Course Description & Information:

  • There are three vaccines to prevent Covid-19 available in the United States – one DNA-vector vaccine, and two messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines. All three have been remarkably successful in protecting recipients from SARS-CoV-2 infection, and severe sequelae, including hospitalization. The potential need for booster doses was foreseen early on while continuing to strive for more ubiquitous vaccination nation-wide. In the mean-time, expanded approval, and Emergency Use Authorizations, have made understanding who should receive which dose of vaccine more complicated. This presentation addresses the background technologies for currently employed Covid vaccines, and approved and authorized dosing and boosting for various patient populations. Intermediate level.
