Course Description & Information:

  • Sports nutrition is nutritional information to best help improve athletic performance. This course is designed to provide the learner greater knowledge in how macronutrients are used during physical activity. Specifically, the role and metabolism of carbohydrates, fat and protein during aerobic and anaerobic activity will be covered.

Course Objectives:

  • Discuss fluid and electrolyte requirements during rest, exercise and recovery.
  • Discuss the role of carbohydrates, protein and dietary fats in energy performance.
  • List the pros and cons of glycogen depletion diets.

Learning Outcome: At least 80% of class participants will score 70% or greater on course post-test.
