Sports Nutrition
Course Description & Information:
- Sports nutrition is nutritional information to best help improve athletic performance. This course is designed to provide the learner greater knowledge in how macronutrients are used during physical activity. Specifically, the role and metabolism of carbohydrates, fat and protein during aerobic and anaerobic activity will be covered. Intermediate level.

Course Objectives:
- Identify recommendations for athletic performance for carbohydrate and protein intake and how the recommendations differ between aerobic and strength/power athletes.
- State the fluid and electrolyte requirements during rest, exercise and recovery and how dehydration impairs performance.
- State the best fuel sources in terms of macronutrients for an athlete to perform optimally.
Learning Outcome: At least 80% of class participants will score 70% or greater on course post-test.
