  • This course reviews current popular dietary supplements used to enhance exercise performance and reviews the research on each. Participants learn the science behind the products being used and whether they are recommended or not.

Course Objectives:

  • Discuss the dietary supplement regulations in the United States.
  • Review the scientific research on popular supplements used to enhance exercise performance.
  • Discuss the role dietary protein and protein supplements in muscle synthesis and exercise performance.
  • State current position on the use of appearance and performance enhancing drugs and substances in adolescent athletes.
  • Identify the benefits and/or risk of at least two sports supplements that are commonly used by athletes.

Learning Outcome: At least 80% of class participants will score 70% or greater on course post-test.
