Kettlebells for Fitness & Rehab
Course Description & Information:
- This coursewill provide the participant with an understanding of how and why kettlebells (KB) can be a useful and effective addition to your fitness and rehabilitation program. It will cover basic origin of the kettlebell, what makes the KB a uniques tool, the use of kettlebells for warm up and ROM Proper form and execution of the popular KB swing, snatch, windmill and get up will be discussed. In addition, multiple KB variations will be presented for modification, progression and variety to your fitness and rehabilitation programming. Add variation and purpose to your fitness or rehab routine with this unique and versatile tool.
- Level: Intermediate
Course Objectives:
- Discuss the origin /history of the kettlebell (KB).
- Discuss what makes kettlebells unique.
- Discuss ways kettlebells can be used for ROM and warm up in fitness and rehab.
- Discuss and review proper execution of the KB swing and its effect on the lumbar spine.
- Discuss and present use of kettlebells for cardiovascular benefit.
- Discuss and present proper form and use of the KB Snatch, Windmill and Get Up.
- Discuss and present KB variations for upper & lower body strength and stability for use in rehab and fitness.
Learning Outcome: At least 80% of class participants will score 70% or greater on course post-test.
