Hepatitis C: Symptoms, Causes & Treatments

Course Description & Information:

  • Hepatitis C is a viral infection that causes liver inflammation, sometimes leading to serious liver damage. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) spreads through contaminated blood. Hepatitis C is caused by one of at least five viruses so far demonstrated to cause hepatitis in humans, and it is estimated to be present in over four million people in the United States. The infection is both similar and different than infections resulting in other forms of viral hepatitis. This program will cover the known causes of Hepatitis C, the course of the disease, the associated acute, and chronic symptoms of the disease, and current treatments available to patients.
