- The goal of the adult weight management course is to provide a practical approach to managing overweight and obese adult patients based on data from research and recommendations from established guidelines.

Course Objectives:
- Discuss dietary macronutrients (e.g. carbohydrates, protein, & fat) composition in the management of prediabetes, diabetes, and coronary heart disease.
- Identify the current FDA approved medications prescribed for weight loss and be able to describe the “off label’ use of medications for weight loss.
- Recognize current evidence-based recommendations for assessment and treatment of weight management.
- Identify genetic, biologic, and environmental contributors to weight status.
- Discuss the science behind selected dietary intervention programs and which population is most benefited (e.g. meal replacements, eating frequency and patterns).
Learning Outcome: At least 80% of class participants will score 70% or greater on course post-test.
