2-hour On-Demand: Age-Related Changes, Disease Processes, & Safety of the Older Adult


Course Description & Information:

  • This course is designed to meet the Texas requirement for the Geriatric CE. The purpose of this course is to prepare nurses and other healthcare workers to address the needs of the geriatric patient population by better understanding trends and age-related changes experienced in the health and wellness of this demographic, including the unfortunate risk of elder abuse.

Course Objectives:

  • Apply general goals of care of the older adult.
  • Explain physiological age-related changes experienced by older adults.
  • Describe cognitive changes and social challenges that may present in the geriatric population.
  • Explain prevention and treatment recommendations related to age-related changes.
  • Discuss elder abuse, risk factors, signs, and symptoms.

Learning Outcome: At least 80% of class participants will score 70% or greater on course post-test.
