Course Objectives

  • Destinguish between a compplete protein and an incomplete protein and how diet can be manipulated to ensure high quality protein at all meals.
  • Review dietary protein requirements for different populations and how diet can best meet these metabolic needs (e.g. critically ill, elite athletes).
  • Learn the current research on protein supplements and when they are warranted for use and when they can increase risk.

Course Description

  • Protein consumption is vital to our health. This course reviews the current recommendations for protein ranging from the critical ill to elite athletes. This course also looks at current protein products for supplementation and when these products are warranted. Education level: Beginner to Intermediate.
