Course Objectives

  • List environmental factors contributing to the diabetes epidemic.
  • List pharmacological interventions for treating diabetes and potential therapies for prediabetes.
  • Discuss the relationship between visceral fat, adipokines and insulin resistance.
  • Discuss dietary and exercise interventions that are effective in weight management, improved glucose utilization and enhanced insulin sensitivity.
