Course Description

• Childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions and strategies for combating this growing health problem are discussed in this seminar. Topics will include current statistics of childhood obesity, disease risks and health implications of childhood obesity, along with current recommendations for diet and exercise strategies.

Course Objectives

• Discuss the health implications of childhood obesity.
• List dietary and exercise interventions to combat childhood obesity.
• Review current surgical and pharmacological interventions for combating childhood obesity (n/a for pharmacy techs).
