Ultimate 1-day Weight Loss/Weight Management BootCamp
Course Description:
- This workshop provides a comprehensive approach to understanding nutrition and how to
successfully lose weight and/or manage weight loss. Today, approximately 8 out of every 10
Americans are overweight and/or obese. Childhood obesity is growing at epidemic rates.
Obesity contributes to 80% of the cases of type 2 diabetes and 70% of those related to heart
disease. This course is designed to provide the tools necessary to setup a weight
loss/weight management program for patient care or to use the information for achieving
individual weight loss/weight management goals. The weight management bootcamp
course offers a step-by-step approach to understanding how to achieve weight loss and
maintain weight loss successfully. Additionally, specific recommendations for those with
diabetes, heart disease and/or other metabolic disease states will be covered. Participants
will not only learn how to establish a weight loss program but will learn how to setup an exercise program to meet current exercise guidelines.
- The course provides 8 hours continuing education credit. The live online course provides 6 credit
hours and comes with the 2 hour home study webinar course Artificial Sweeteners & Genetically
Modified Foods. Information for connecting to the webinars will be sent upon registration.

Course Objectives :
- Design a weight loss/weight management program to improve health and reduce the risk of disease.
- Design an exercise/fitness program to promote cardiovascular fitness, increase metabolism and boost energy levels.
- Discuss dietary recommendations for high risk patients - e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc.
- Review current recommendations for combating childhood and adolescent obesity.
- Discuss pharmacologic and surgical options in the treatment of obesity.
- Discuss the relationship between genes, the environment, and weight status.
- Discuss the role of hormones and neurotransmitters (e.g dopamine) in the regulation of appetite, satiety and metabolism.
Credit Hours: 8 (6 live hours, 2 home study hours)
Certificate Requirements:
- Full attendance required.
- Completion of course post-test (70%) and course evaluation.
